A Swiss police dog tracked a thief for more than 5 kilometres during the night from Saturday to Sunday, according to local police. The efforts of “Dodge vom Eichertland” led to the arrest of the thief an hour later, said the Lucerne police.
The man had robbed a fast food restaurant in Willisau shortly after midnight, threatening the owner of a pocket knife. He then fled with 2,000 Swiss francs (just over 1,750 euros). Dodge then followed the thief’s trail, which allowed a police patrol to spot the fugitive about 5 kilometres from his crime.
When the alleged thief was arrested officers found the money, as well as a knife corresponding to the one described.
