The French-speaking Brussels Trade Tribunal has lodged a complaint with the High Court. It is suffocating under a backlog that just keeps growing, La Libre Belgique reported on Friday. The Tribunal says there are 1,300 decisions waiting to be properly typed up so they can be sent to the people concerned. They’ll “have to wait three to four months before receiving the official decision”, which is much more than the normal two weeks, says its President Patrick De Wolf.
He feels the federal government has not yet provided a satisfactory solution. “Which is starting to annoy us”, he adds.
So what is the subject of this action? The quality of the service provided to companies, traders and the Brussels economy by the Courts. It also concerns the well-being of the Tribunal’s staff working on the piles of delayed requests.
Exams so more registrars will be qualified should be organized soon, assures the Justice Minister Koen Geens. He added he was aware of the problem.
