Minister Carlo Di Antonio is organizing a “Big Spring Clean” in Wallonia

The Walloon minister for the Environment Carlo Di Antonio (Humanist Democrats) is organizing a “Big Spring Clean” on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of March, to get rid of all the waste overtaking the region.  In a press release on Wednesday, he called on all residents to take part in the clean-up by picking up paper, cigarette butts, tin cans, plastic bags and other waste. Families, youth groups, sports clubs, associations, schools, groups of friends, and local councils are all invited to help clean up their road, neighbourhood, village, park or even a forest path.

This way, the minister hopes to inspire a lasting commitment and responsible behavior in residents.

Volunteers can register on the website https://bewapp.wallonie.be up until Midnight on the 10th of March. They will get a cleaning kit gifted by Wallonia, which will also be available for free in the communes taking part.

There will be information campaigns for “Big Spring Clean” from the 17th of February onwards, to try and encourage the maximum number of people and communities to take part.

The presenter Sandrine Dans will be the face of the operation, which is part of a larger plan called “Be WAPP” (WAllonie Plus Propre). It will be presented over the next few months.
