Steven Vandeput does not want a second Defence mandate

Steven Vandeput will not be Defence Minister in the next cabinet, he said in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday.
He claims this has nothing to do with the F-16 affair. “There are departments where mandates can be extended, but I need a change,” he said.

As Defence Minister, “one has numerous functions with great visibility. If you do it for too long, there is a risk you start thinking it’s reality.”
