Hundreds gathered in Brussels for the right to live “from conception to natural death”

The tenth "March for Life" mobilized about 500 people on Sunday on Place Poelaertin Brussels, according to police. 2,000 marchers were present, the organizers said. This event was part of the international movement of marches for life.

Sunday's March focused on “the respect for human life from conception to natural death", and against practices such as abortion, euthanasia, surrogacy or embryonic research.

It was in silence that participants paid tribute to those they designated as victims of practices which violate human life. This year’s march also collected for the purchase of pregnancy clothing and child accessories for vulnerable families.

A lot of noise came from the 120 strong counter-demonstrators assembled outside of the Gare Centrale at the initiative of Collecti.e.f 8 maars, who protested in defence of every woman’s right to choose what happens to her body.

Feminists are still waiting for true decriminalization of abortion, whereas since Sunday babies stillborn after 140 days of pregnancy can be officially recognized.

The police said there were no incidents.
