End of tightened security measures at Delhaize

Delhaize has ended the tightened security measures it put in place after the acid attack in front of one of its Antwerp stores on the 20th of February. The decision was taken “on the basis of new information becoming available concerning the suspect”, the Group’s spokesman Roel Dekelver said on Friday.

“The original security measures will remain in place”, said the spokesman, who added that Delhaize didn’t want to comment on the ongoing investigation. “Our attention is completely focused on the victim of the attack and their family”.

The suspect was arrested early on the 6th of March in Paris. He is expected to be handed over the Belgian authorities very soon.
