The American media mogul John Malone (Liberty Global) and his French counterpart Patrick Drahl (Altice) are both interested in taking on Base, the Belgian branch of the Dutch telecommunications Group KPN. This was reported by the daily paper De Telegraaf on Tuesday. Representatives from Liberty Global, the parent company of Telenet, and Altice discussed the subject with the JP Morgan bank, which KPN asked to study the possibilities of a resale.
KPN already tried to sell its Belgian branch in 2012. The offers were not considered satisfactory at the time.
Last year, the operator sold its German operation E-Plus to the Spanish company Telefonica.
