A branch of the Belgian company CMB is interested in taking on TNT Airways

If FedEx buys TNT, TNT Airways will not be part of the deal, as FedEx, an American company, does not want to run a European airline. Therefore, they are looking for someone to take it on. Although the Americans said they had “identified several candidates” on Tuesday, the Belgian maritime company CMB is interested, through its branch ASL Aviation. This was reported on the De Tijd website. ASL Aviation had already struck a deal to buy TNT Airways a few years ago, but it fell through due to an acquisition attempt by the American group UPS not being finalised.

CMB has confirmed it is very interested in TNT Airways. “However, there is currently no deal on the table. There has been no contact”, the CMB boss said to De Tijd.

Based in Liège, TNT Airways employs around 400 people, including 300 pilots.
