Telenet gets hold of Base for 1.325 billion euros

On Monday, the Telenet group announced it had made a definitive agreement with the Dutch group KPN, with a view to buying the telecom operator Base. The sum agreed is 1.325 billion euros. “The combination of Telenet and Base Company will create a first rate telecom service provider for Belgium. They had a combined operational income of 2.4 billion euros in 2014, and an adjusted EBITDA of 1.1 billion euros”, Telenet said in a press release.

The operation must be approved by the relevant competition authorities.
