EDF threatens Marghem to safeguard confidentiality regarding Tihange 1

The EDF boss, Jean-Bernard Levy, has written a letter to the Energy Minister, Marie-Christine Marghem. In it, he talks about the agreement determining conditions for Tihange 1 being extended by 10 years. He says there is sensitive information regarding it, which must remain confidential. If this information becomes public, EDF will go before La Haye’s Permanent Referee Court, L’Echo reported on Thursday. “I want to help you find a solution that would allow you to do what Belgian MPs are asking, while keeping sensitive economic data regarding the companies involved, namely EDF S.A. and EDF Belgium, confidential”, says Jean-Bernard Levy.

“Therefore, please allow me to remind you that any litigation, conflict or complaint will be dealt with using article 19 of the agreement”, the French EDF boss said in his letter.

Despite this warning from EDF, Green MPs have not backed out of publishing the entire text. Jean-Marc Nollet and Kristof Calvo have written a resolution that includes the whole agreement on Tihange 1. The ball is in the camp of the Chamber’s president, Sigfried Bracke, who must decide whether the agreement should be published and distributed.
