Open day for over 350 businesses this Sunday

The 22nd edition of the JDE (“Corporate Discovery Day”) was officially launched in the presence of Jean-Claude Marcourt, Walloon Minister of Economy and Innovation, at IsoHemp in Fernelmont on Friday. Over 350 businesses will open their doors to the public on the occasion of the JDE this coming Sunday, including 85 in Wallonia and in Brussels.

This year’s edition focusses on the bioeconomy with approximately 10 companies producing, working with or recycling biomass. IsoHemp is one such company and the Wallonia chapter of the JDE was announced at their premises. “Our company uses hemp, a natural product, locally sourced, and which works as a thermal, acoustic and moisture insulator. We will be active on 250 sites in 2015. But we need to better advertise our work to the public and industry professionals. Hence our participation in this open day,” explains Olivier Beghin, who runs the SME, employing 7 members of staff.

Minister Marcourt insisted he intends to actively encourage the launch of innovative businesses in Wallonia. 21 start-ups launched less than 3 years ago will indeed take centre stage during the JDE.

The visits are free of charge and the list of participating businesses can be found on www.jde.be.
