Charleroi: H&M shuts after an incident during a closing down sale

Local Charleroi police had to intervene to help deal with around a hundred rowdy customers. They were trying to force open the doors of the H&M store in Charleroi on Saturday afternoon. The store was having a closing down sale. One of the store’s doors was broken and it had to shut for the day.

To prepare for its move to the Rive Gauche shopping mall, the H&M store in rue de la Montagne in Charleroi was having a closing down sale.

A spokesman for the local Charleroi police said around a hundred customers gathered in front of the doors at 1.40pm. They tried to force their way into the shop.

The security service couldn’t cope and had to call the police, who sent five teams to break up the crowd. One of the store’s doors was damaged, and it had to shut for the day.
