The number of simplified income tax returns sent by SPF Finance will increase, announced Friday Minister of Finance, Johan Van Overtveldt. It will go from today’s some 2.2 million to 3 million. These income tax returns are sent to taxpayers, of whom the fiscal situation is simple and does not change substantially, especially that of pensioners and those who earn a replacement income. If they agree with this proposition for income tax declaration, they have nothing to do; they will receive an assessment notice extract conform to the declaration. If they do not agree, they can modify it.
Our experience shows us that we receive few complaints and that the majority agrees,” explained the Minister N-VA.
The group of persons that will receive this type of return will expand. Up until now it concerned taxpayers whose income, after flat-rate professional expenses have been deducted, does not exceed the tax-exonerated amount. This limit will be abolished.
“This is an essential simplification, just as much for the citizen as for the public authorities”, underlined Mr Van Overveldt.
