Fujitsu chooses Brussels for its Blockchain Innovation Centre

Fujitsu, the Japanese technology giant, has chosen Brussels for its Innovation Center for block chains, or chain of blocks. This Center was inaugurated Wednesday by the Federal Minister for Employment, Kris Peeters, and the Japanese ambassador. The aim of this Center – other than the development of technology – is to guide companies and authorities in the use of block chains in their own organization, and in their relations with their customers and suppliers.

Block chains, or chain of blocks, is a technology that deals with data in both a transparent and a secure manner. It is a sort of digital newspaper, of which all users have a copy. As each one controls all of the transactions, it is almost impossible to falsify data.

This Center functions with external partners, such as the Leuven Research Center, IMEC. A collaboration agreement has been signed with INNOVIIS, the Brussels Institute for Innovation within the framework of the “smart cities” concept.
