Belgian wind farms generate record 39 GWh on Sunday

Belgian wind farms generated a record level of electric power with 39GWh on Sunday, revealed APERe (Association for the Promotion of Renewable Energy) on Monday. Wind farms (1,980MW) managed to cover average needs for 4,100,000 dwellings (3,500 kWh/year) representing 85% of the total number of homes.

“Wind farms produced between 13% and 17% of the total energy needs in Belgium, averaging out at 15% that day,” explains the association in a press release.

APERe says this achievement is due to good performances by the wind farms and to the current  weather conditions, which, as ever at this time of the year, are consistently blustery.
