Wallonia does not want to miss out on the rise of drones

On Tuesday the Economy Commission of the Walloon Parliament unanimously approved a proposal for a resolution seeking to provide support for the drone sector, which has been on the rise in Belgium since the publication in April of a Royal Decree corresponding to the former Minister of Mobility, Jacqueline Galant. The Region can make its contribution, stated Deputy Virginie Defrang (MR) at the start of this debate, which achieved consensus at the Regional Assembly following several sessions. PS, MR and cdH highlighted the role to be played by the Skywin competitiveness hub in the projects being developed. The deputies also wish to promote the organization of technology tables, or encounters of sector players. The French Community has been requested to inform school children on the prospects in the sector and to integrate training modules in the subjects of higher education (law, architecture, journalism, cinema, audio-visual arts, photography, geometry, agronomy, insurance, etc.). FOREm, on its part, shall be prompted to favourably guide job-seekers towards training in piloting drones, while the Digital Wallonia platform, Agence du Numérique and the new Walloon investment fund for digital start-ups given the name Wing, will also contribute.
