Prices for services and goods varied widely within the EU in 2014. Poland had the lowest prices both for food and for consumer electronics, whereas alcohol, tobacco, hotels and restaurants were cheaper in Bulgaria, points out Eurostat (Statistical Office of the European Union) in a press release. As for clothing, the lowest prices were registered in Hungary, and for consumer electronics and personnel vehicles such as cars, the Czech Republic was the least expensive.
Overall, prices varied from the EU average by 48% in Bulgaria to by 138% in Denmark. Belgium’s variation was 109%.
