The European Union and the United States are “not ready” for Trump, according to the President of the European Parliament

The European Union and the United States are “not ready” for the American billionaire Donald Trump to enter the White House, the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz said on Saturday. “I think Europe and the United States are not ready for that type of President, and one I think has no international experience”, he told the French news channel I-Tele.

“Trump is one of these people that we also come across in Europe occasionally: they have a scapegoat for everything but never a solution”, he said. He compared it to the rise of “savage populism” in the EU.

“In his hands”, the political and military power the President of the United States has at their disposal would give him “real options for extremely dangerous decisions”, added Martin Schulz.

“Honestly, I myself prefer another candidate”, said the German Social-Democrat leader. It was no surprise that he gave his support to Hilary Clinton, the favourite for the Democratic primaries.

Donald Trump is leading the primaries for the Republican candidate in the American presidential elections in November, to the chagrin of the Party leadership. They don’t like his incendiary speeches.

On Friday, there were clashes between Trump’s supporters and opponents in Chicago. This came just before a campaign meeting, that the billionaire cancelled at the last minute.
