Migrant crisis – Nineteen migrants rescued from the Channel off the British coast

Nineteen migrants were rescued from the Channel late on Saturday through to early Sunday. They got into trouble off the British coast after their inflatable canoe starting taking water, the British coast guard announced on Sunday.

The coast-guard received a distress call from Dymchurch, near Calais, at 23h40 (22h40 GMT) on Saturday. The canoe, which had 19 people on board, was located at 2am (1am GMT) on Sunday, the British coastguard said.
