Former Commissioner of Competition Neelie Kroes responded by mail to the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker. However, the content of the letter may not be disclosed due to matters privacy and confidentiality, stated Tuesday Commission spokesperson Margaritis Schinas.
Mr. Schinas did not even state whether the President of the Commission was satisfied with the content of the letter. “I could be sued in court, and you also,” he responded to journalists.
Jean-Claude Juncker wrote to the former Commissioner of Competition last week, after a group of journalist revealed that from 2000 to 2009 she had managed an offshore Bahamas company.
Mrs. Kroes’ letter will be analysed in order to decide the steps to follow, stated Mr. Schinas.
