The Commission will adopt new anti-dumping measures for Chinese steel

The European Commission announced anti-dumping measures designed to combat cheap Chinese steel on Friday. These new measures concern hot-laminated flat steel, and strong sheet steel.

Import taxes vary from 65.1% to 73.7% for sheet steel, and 13.2% to 22.6% for hot-laminated steel. The Commission has criticised China for flooding the European market with cut price steel.

Over the next six months, the Commission will decide whether the measures will remain in place for the next four years.

This is not the first time that such measures have been put in place for Chinese steel. Anti-dumping measures were put in place for cold-laminated steel from China.
