There will be no opening up this week on the matter of the EU-Canada commercial agreement (CETA). It would therefore be convenient to postpone the summit planned for Thursday, said Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, to a German radio broadcaster.
“I do not think we will reach a solution this week,” he considered. “It seems quite unlikely.”
According to Martin Schulz, it would be better to postpone Thursday’s EU-Canada summit. “A free trade agreement of this nature is not a used car deal. It is a commercial treaty which is the first of its kind and of worldwide importance… If we still need two additional weeks, it’s preferable that we postpone the summit,” stated the Parliament President.
