Concert to mark the start of Malta’s European Union Council Presidency planned for the 16th of January

There will be a concert to mark the start of Malta’s European Union Council Presidency on the 16th of January. It will be held at the Henry Le Boeuf hall in Bozar at 8pm. The concert was announced by the Brussels Palais des Beaux-Arts press service.

The “Malta Philharmonic Orchestra” will be led by Brian Schembri, and tenor Joseph Calleja will do a solo. They will perform well-known compositions by Giuseppe Verdi, Charles Gounod, Jules Massenet, Giacomo Puccini and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

The “Knights of Malta Ballet Suite” by Maltese composer Charles Camilleri (1931-2009) will also be performed. He was inspired by the Order of Malta, also called the Order of Saint-Jean of Jerusalem, which is an order of medieval knights. It still exists in Belgium today, in the form of an association that helps the sick and impoverished.

Bozar will also host an exhibition called “Malta, Earth and Sea” from the 17th of February to the 28th of May.
