Former President of the Catalan government, Carles Puigdemont, announced that he is prepared to meet Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, “in any EU member country”, outside Spain, following the results of the regional election. Carles Puigdemont held a press conference in Brussels Press Club on Friday, following the victory of the separatist parties in the regional elections convened by Madrid.
With nearly 99% of the votes counted, the three pro-independence parties in Catalonia received an absolute majority in the regional parliament, although the anti-independence party Ciudadanos received most seats. Overall turnout was historically a record with 82 % participation rate.
