Former London mayor Boris Johnson has been officially appointed British Prime Minister after a visit to Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday, Buckingham Palace announced.
"Mr. Johnson accepted the offer of her Majesty and kissed her hand during his inauguration as Prime Minister," the palace wrote in a statement.
He succeeds former PM Theresa May, who resigned from her post.
