Olympic Games - Rachid Madrane describes the opening ceremony as “magnificent, superb, grandiose”

The Brussels-Wallonia Sports Minister, Rachid Madrane, was at the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Rio at the mythical Maracana stadium on Friday. He described it as “magnificent, superb, grandiose”. “The Cariocas have shown they can organise a planet-wide event. I have come away very moved”. He had never been to what is a huge moment for the Olympic Games before.

“I will remember something the mayor of Rio said: ‘you have to believe in your dreams’. It’s true, you have to believe that anything is possible by working together”.

Rachid Madrane, who will remain in Rio until the 13th of August, also spoke about Olivia Borlée, the flag-bearer for the Belgian team. “It was very moving to see her. It’s moving for the country, for the Borlée family, and for her. Believe in your dreams perfectly covers all the physical problems she has overcome”.
