20 km from Brussels - the Brussels majority aspires to a plan in favour of jogging in the capital

On the initiative of the Flemish Socialist MEP, Jef Van Damme, the various political groups of the Brussels majority tabled a motion for a resolution to set up a jogging plan. The plan, tabled in the Brussels Parliament, is designed to give this everyday sport greater visibility in public spaces and encourage the practice of jogging, which is accessible to most people.

According to the deputy of the SP.A, the "jogging plan", called for by the majority deputies, must also put Brussels on the map of jogging around the world.

In his view, in Brussels it is mainly the forest of Soignes, the Bois de la Cambre and the Brussels parks, known as the Parc de Bruxelles and the Elisabeth Park which are popular for this sporting practice. However, the public is increasingly jogging along the axes, which are more or less attractive for joggers: the Canal, the Avenue de Tervueren and the Promenade Verte.

The motion for a resolution calls, in particular, for the Brussels authorities to pay particular attention to the public spaces for joggers, including green areas, signs and awareness for jogging routes, development of lighting infrastructure for joggers (drinking fountains, toilets and lockers, etc.).
