Belgian duos win gold at Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup

Two Belgian pairs won gold at the Acrobatic Gymnastics 2017 World Cup in Lisbon, Portugal, where the last of the four rounds for this season was held at the weekend. Kilian Goffaux (Sportac Deinze) and Robin Casse (VGL Niel) placed first in the men’s event, while the women’s went to Noémie Lammertyn and Lore Vanden Berghe of Sportac Deinze.

The Belgians had already won gold at the first two rounds, held in Puur (Belgium) and Maia (Portugal). Absent at the third round, in Geneva, they went to Lisbon determined to take care of unfinished business.

The girls, who were up against two other teams, won gold with a score of 29.31 points. Pitted against seven other teams, the boys edged out their nearest rivals by 0.02 points.

In July last, the Belgian women had won silver at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, while the men took the bronze medal.

The two teams’ next big meet for season is the European Championship, set for October in Poland.
