Flanders invests millions in high-level sports infrastructure

Flanders will invest 15.8 million euros in high-level sports infrastructure, Flemish Sports Minister Philippe Muyters (New Flemish Alliance) announced on Thursday. The money is to allow the region to develop training centres and sports medical treatment for top athletes. The investments, which follow similar funding in previous years, aim above all to guarantee athletes and their entourage the best training conditions possible.

Some installations will have to be centralized in a single location, the minister explained.

The investments are to be earmarked, in particular, for the top-of-the-line sports centres in Ghent, Antwerp and Leuven.
