Nafissatou Thiam won the long jump and broke the Belgian long-jump record on Sunday morning at the Decastar in Talence (France)*. With a jump at 6m67, the Namuroise beat Sandrine Hennart’s 23-year-old record of 6m63 and improved her personal best by 5cm.

Thiam currently leads the heptathlon at the Decastar meeting after five out of seven events. Our Olympic, world and European champion has 5,195 points and could beat today the European heptathlon record (7,032 points) held by Swedish Carolina Kluft since 2007.

There are still two races to compete in: the javelin (2.15 pm) and 800m (4.15 pm.)

*The Decastar is an annual athletic competition held in Talence (France) on the agenda of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAD).
