Scottish police are investigating the death of a Belgian woman in Glasgow on Thursday evening. She set herself on fire in a police station in Clydebank, in the West of the country, on the 8th of January, according to the Het Nieuwsblad op zondag. She had been living in Scotland for some time, the Sunday paper revealed. On the day of the incident, she burst into the station around 10am, and the incident happened shortly after.

“We don’t yet know precisely why she was there. That is part of the investigation”, said Matthew Miller from the Scottish police. She was taken to a specialized hospital in Glasgow with third degree burns. She succumbed to her injuries there on Thursday.

The Foreign Office is in contact with her family. The reasons behind her desperate act are not yet known, nor is it known precisely where she is from.
