Police have announced that a business aircraft en route to Belgium went down in a field shortly after takeoff from Geneva Friday lunchtime, killing the pilot, the only person on board. According to witnesses, The Piper Malibu, a single turboprop built in the US, experienced engine failure and went into a spin as can be be seen in an amateur video posted on the website of newspaper ‘20minutes’.

The plane, en route to Zwartberg in Belgium, had taken only a few minutes earlier and was climbing to altitude.
