One of the 2 black boxes of the German airline Germanwings which crashed in the region of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (France) this morning was allegedly recovered, revealed local MP Christophe Castaner to several French media on Tuesday. 150 people were on board the plane (144 passengers and 6 crew), and they are all reported dead. The Alpes-de-Haute-Provence MP Christophe Castaner announced on France Info that one of the aircraft’s black boxes had been found.
He did not specify if the black box found was the one containing a register of flight parameters or the one with a recording of cockpit conversations.
The MP tweeted that he flew over the crash area in a helicopter. “Ghastly vision in this mountain landscape. There is nothing but bodies and wreckage,” he said. “We flew over the area with the Home Secretary, it was horrible. The aircraft was completely destroyed. Very sad,” he tweeted as well.
“Home Secretary Bernard Cazeneuve is taking charge of operations. General Galtier and the Aix public prosecutor will report to him directly,” he added on his Twitter account.
