Germany: 22-year-old man admits to rape of 11-year-old Belgian boy

A 22-year-old German man appeared before the court in Hannover, in the north of Germany, on Wednesday, charged with the rape of an 11-year-old boy. The boy's father posted an online offer to rape his son and afterwards distributed pictures of the act on the web.

At the start of the trial, the accused explained through his lawyer that he visited Mechelen on March 1st, 2015 with the purpose of abusing the victim. Along with the child’s father, the defendant then raped the boy.

The statement of the victim as recorded by the Belgian police was played in court on Wednesday. The boy detailed in his statement that his father regularly abused him over the course of several years, the father allegedly posting pictures of the abuse on a specialised online website. The child’s living arrangements meant he spent time with both his father, a Mechelen postman, and with his mother who lived in Berchem. The 45-year-old father is currently awaiting trial under lock and key in Belgium.

Australian detectives became aware of the sexual predator on the Internet and succeeded in tracing the video back to Belgium. The man, a resident of Hamelin (Lower Saxony), was subsequently apprehended by the Belgian police.
