A 68-year-old Belgian tourist is in a serious condition after falling down a geyser at the El Tatio site in Chile on Thursday, reveals the information website Publimetro. Her husband, who helped pull her out of the boiling water, suffered burns to his arms.
According to Publimetro, the woman was visiting El Tatio, the site of almost 80 geysers, when she lost her balance and fell down one of the hot water wells. She was taken to Calama hospital (northern Chili) in a serious condition. Her husband helped pull her out of the boiling water and suffered burns to his arms.
El Tatio is located 85km from San Pedro de Atacama. It is the biggest geyser site in the southern hemisphere and the third largest worldwide.
