A 48-year-old Belgian living in Spain died on Wednesday when she fell from a cliff in Benidorm (Spain), according to information in the media which was also confirmed to Belga Press Agency by the Foreign Office. Spanish police have not ruled out that the accident may have happened as the victim took a selfie with her partner, who was taken to hospital.
According to Spanish press, the accident happened at around 1.30am on Wednesday morning. The woman died before the paramedics arrived. Her partner, a 38-year-old Spaniard, was injured and suffering from hypothermia. He was taken to hospital and the police are hoping he will soon be well enough to be questioned.
The police believe the couple may have been messing around at the top of the cliff, or possible that they were trying to take a risky selfie.
An investigation is underway.
