Ireland to party in Belgium from June 7th to June 12th

Irish culture and music will be honoured in Belgium on this coming June 7th to June 12th. The Irish ambassador announced this yesterday (Thursday). For six days, Tradfest Belgium 2016 will step up the number of events in several places in Brussels and Flanders, several days before Belgium meet Ireland in the European Championships on June 18th.

“The largest traditonal Irish festival ever organised in Belgium" will honour 70 artists (musicians, dancers, ...) via 40 events in 20 different places in the country, particularly in Flagey and in celebrated Irish pubs in the capital.

"Ireland and Belgium are already close partners in numerous spheres," the ambassador Eamonn Mac Aodha stresses. The Belgians who visit Ireland do so often, as we are famous for our music. We wish to offer potential visitors a glimpse of the best of Ireland. Moreover, 15,000 Irish citizens live in Belgium.” This festival is also for them, concludes the ambassador.

Beside the concerts, the main ones of which will be in La Place Flagey, the festival will also offer a photographic exhibition, and lessons in both Irish dancing and the Gaellic language, amongst other things...
