Juncker-May discord around post-Brexit commercial agreements
There are strained relations between Jean-Claude Juncker and Theresa May.

Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, has put a stop to British plans to launch negotiations over post-Brexit referendum bilateral commercial agreements.
He mentioned that this sphere comes exclusively back to Brussels.

“Concerning Brexit-related issues (...), I am obliged to say that the negotiation of free trade agreements falls within the remit of the European Union, in compliance with the EU treaties (...) and we have to keep to these terms.”

Juncker confirmed this during press conference in Hangzhou (in Eastern China), outside the G20 Summit.

He drummed out, “I do not like the idea of EU member states, including those who are still part of it, negotiating commercial agreements. This is the exclusive authority of the EU.”

This, undoubtedly, was a reactionary bullet aimed at the British Prime Minister, Theresa May for having, from now on, started bilateral talks to make post-Brexit Britain “a free trade world leader.”

Mrs May went to the G20 Summit with the intention of putting “commercial opportunities which might open up across the world for the United Kingdom post-Brexit” on the table to all other international leaders.
