Two ewes die in Limburg, a wolf found dead on the side of the road

Two Ewes were found dead in Limburg on Saturday. They were probably killed by a wolf, the association Landschap revealed on Sunday. A wolf was later found dead on the side of the road in Neeroeteren in Limburg, according to local police and an animal refuge in Opglabbeek. Its body was taken to the animal refuge.

One farmer in Bree and another in Rotem (Dilsen-Stokkem) each found a dead ewe. The two animals were probably attacked by a wolf according to Jan Loos, the administrative delegate for Landschap. DNA samples were taken from the scene. Several witnesses claimed to have seen a wolf in the area on Saturday.

The wolf that was found dead on the side of the road in Limburg on Sunday will be examined by the Flemish Institute for Environmental Research (Instituut voor Natuur en Bosonderzoek – INBO). They will look into the wolf’s age and species.
