Science and Universe on agenda in Marolles district for final edition of CurieuCity festival

The final edition of the free CurieuCity festival is taking place this weekend in Brussels’ Marolles neighbourhood.

Until 1 December, visitors will have the chance to explore “fascinating themes such as space, mathematics, mechanics, chemistry, and physics” at the Jeu de Balle square.

The programme revolves around the “mysteries of science and engineering” through exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions focusing on STEAM — science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

The organisers have assured that the subjects will not be too complicated. “Through art and play, even the youngest participants can grasp complex scientific concepts,” according to a statement from the University of ULB, that initiated the event.

One of the highlights will be the conference “Stars, Black Holes & Co” where ULB astrophysicist Sophie Van Eck will guide the audience “on a journey through the Universe.”

“We will visit stars, exo-planets, and even black holes. This virtual tour of the Universe reminds us how precious our planet is and how vital it is to preserve it,” Van Eck said.

CurieuCity is a travelling festival aimed at stimulating scientific curiosity.

Two editions have already taken place this year: “Discover the City of the Future” that took place in Molenbeek and “Dive into the Heart of Biodiversity and the Wonders of Nature” in Forest.
