Almost two million Belgians – including 1,218,600 in Flanders – have already received a Covid-19 booster shot.

Essential care personnel and people over 65 have already had their turn, reports De Morgen, but figures show large regional differences.

In some places, a quarter of the booster vaccines have already been administered, in others barely 10%.

Knokke, Koksijde and Bonheiden boast the highest rates when it comes to a third vaccine shot. There, more than 30% have already been revaccinated.

The centre cities of Bruges and Antwerp are also showing high revaccination rates, with 24.9% and 18.6%, respectively.

But Ghent is lagging behind with barely 9%, which is about 11% of those who are fully vaccinated.

“Unfortunately, we've only been vaccinating since 1 December,” said Rudy Coddens (Vooruit), Alderman for Health & Care.

Translation: As of today, 85 and 65 year-olds and their care staff can again go to Hall 2 of Flanders Expo for their extra vaccine by appointment. Twelve-year-olds and people who have not yet been vaccinated can also get their shot there.

In Machelen, Vilvoorde, Asse, Affligem and Liedekerke, less than 10% have received their booster vaccine.
