Frost and ice could form on Belgium’s roads between 8:00 PM on Saturday and 11:00 AM on Sunday, the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) warned on Saturday
Road users need to be particularly cautious in the Ardennes, but other parts of the country that are sheltered from the wind are also at risk, IRM said.
The warning covers the provinces of Liège, Hainaut, Namur, Luxembourg and Walloon Brabant, Brussels Region, the Coast and the Flemish provinces of Limburg, West Flanders, East Flanders, Flemish Brabant and Antwerp, Belga news agency noted.
The IRM has issued a countrywide yellow alert, noting that 1 to 5 cm of fresh snow could fall in six hours, while 5 to 10 cm of snow could fall in 24 hours. There could also be very localized sheets of ice or frost, IRM said.
