Belgium raises €24.8 million for Ukraine in three weeks

After three weeks, the Belgian Consortium for Emergency Aid Organisations managed to collect €24.8 million for its #Ukraine1212 appeal, the organisation announced in a press release on Friday.

After the successful joint 'Ukraine 12-12' benefit show by the Flemish media, a solidarity action followed by 12 French-speaking radio stations, 'Radios Ukraine'.

"We have witnessed an enormous wave of solidarity from the public, companies, associations, authorities, schools and media over the past few weeks," said Gilles van Moortel, coordinator of Consortium 12-12.

According to him, "the exceptional media support made a world of difference."

With the proceeds, the seven humanitarian organisations that are members of the Consortium provide immediate relief such as clean water, medical care and psychological assistance in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries. This way, the organisations help the vulnerable and displaced people in Ukraine itself as well as the inhabitants who fled abroad.
