On Thursday morning, there is a 40-kilometre-long traffic jam on the E40 towards Ghent.
The Flemish Traffic Centre have stated that two lanes of the E40 have been closed due to a pile-up near the East Flanders municipality of Erpe-Mere.
The first collision is set to have occurred at 06:00, and involved two vehicles. Following then, an additional five automobiles then proceeded to collide with each other.

Belga News Agency have reported that these vehicles are currently being towed.
In the meantime, drivers heading from Brussels to Ghent or the coast have been advised to divert their route via the A12.
