In trend with the past few days, Sunday will be cloudy with occasional rain but mostly marked by very strong winds. Next week will be much of the same, but with slightly warmer temperatures.
High winds with alternating clouds and occasional showers have been forecast for Sunday. The wind is expected to be strong, sometimes with very strong gusts of wind, the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) warned.
"Gusts up to 75 km/h can be expected across the country. Along the coast, winds will be very strong, with gusts up to 80 km/h," the RMI said. Temperatures will hover between 12 or 13°C at the sea and in the high Ardennes and around 17°C in the centre of the country Kempen.
Because of the predicted bad weather, the Home Affairs Ministry has activated the helpline number 1722 for the damage caused by storms or flooding. Anyone who has suffered storm or water damage requiring assistance from the fire department can submit a request via the e-desk www.1722.be or call the number 1722.
Only for potentially life-threatening situations should people call 112. This additional emergency number is activated to avoid overloading the emergency services.
Forecast for next week
By Monday, a small high-pressure wedge temporarily provides calm and dry weather. The day will begin dry and fairly sunny in most places.
However, during the day, large stacking clouds will develop, which may result in a small spring shower here or there. The wind will calm down. In the areas south of Sambre and Meuse it will be cloudy with rain and showers at the end of the day. Maximum temperatures are between 14 or 15°C in the Ardennes and 18 or 19°C in the Kempen and central Belgium.
Starting Tuesday, warmer but unstable air from southern Europe and the Mediterranean will flow into the region, but at the same time, a fairly active depression will develop.
Tuesday will be largely cloudy with rain and showers moving in from France. However, this will also see temperatures rise slightly, with 17°C expected by the sea and 21°C in the Kempen and central Belgium. Winds will be weak to moderate from the southeast to the south.

Wednesday morning will be grey with fog or mist in some places, but the clouds will later clear for the Labour Day holiday, and it will soon become fairly sunny in most places. Temperatures will range from 17°C at the coats to 23°C in the Kempen and centre of Belgium.
However, in the afternoon, the clouds will increase and fierce showers with thunderstorms will pass over Belgium from France.
