A 41-year-old man arrested earlier earlier this week in connection with a murder in Oelegem, Ranst, has been released on bail, Antwerp’s public prosecutor’s office announced on Friday.
The victim, a 71-year-old, had been reported missing by his family. After his vehicle was found abandoned on an E34 motorway car park, a search was initiated, leading to the discovery of his body in a nearby woodland on Tuesday night. The evidence suggests the man was violently killed.
The investigation swiftly led to a 41-year-old man from Broechem, Ranst. Arrested on Tuesday morning, he was charged with murder on the Wednesday. Although he should have appeared in court next week, he was instead released on bail yesterday, Friday. Further details around the case were not provided.
