Six people were sentenced on Tuesday by a Dinant court for cultivating 2,965 cannabis plants in a Couvin warehouse in 2021. The individuals were affiliated with a criminal organisation.

Two were handed 30-month prison sentences, taking into consideration time they had already served. Three more received sentences of 30 months, while a fourth was sentenced to three years.

The police were alerted to the operation by an electrician, who became suspicious due to regular power cuts and the presence of a large fan at the back of the warehouse. He also noted ongoing work inside the premises.

A raid was swiftly carried out, uncovering several cultivated rooms housing 2,965 cannabis plants. Four individuals were present in the warehouse at the time of the police operation.

The owner of the warehouse, initially accused of drug dealing unrelated to the cannabis cultivation, first leased half the building before renting out the entire property. A search of his home yielded over two kilograms of cannabis, a dozen ecstasy pills, cocaine, and nearly €2,500 cash.
