"Summer is coming, summer is coming!" However, patience is still key as the weekend is set to be colder than usual, with the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) predicting highs of 20°C.

Belgians will have to wait until Tuesday, with its forecasted peak of 28°C, to fully embrace summer.

Friday afternoon will bring a cloudy sky, particularly over the northern half of the country. However, clearing will develop from the south. Temperatures will reach their peak by late afternoon, fluctuating between 17°C and 21°C. In hilly Ardennes and near the sea, strong winds of up to 60 km/h are expected.

By evening, Belgium will enjoy generally dry weather, despite persistent cloud cover in the north. Rain will return to the coastal region by dawn. The temperature will hover around 12°C in higher Belgium and 17°C elsewhere, under a strengthening wind toward the early hours.

The weekend will start low-key: a rain belt will traverse the country from west to east before midday on Saturday with clear periods developing in most regions afterwards.

The mercury will oscillate between 16°C and 20°C. Strong wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are expected, losing intensity by evening. Light showers may occur on Saturday night at the northern border with the Netherlands. The temperature will dip to 6°C in the Ardennes and 12°C at the coast.

On Sunday, the day will start with generous sunshine in places. Skies will become cloudier, with showers predicted mainly in the northwest. The high temperatures will mirror the previous day’s.

After mirroring similar weather on Monday, there will be a noticeable rise in temperature on Tuesday, with a high of up to 28°C predicted.
