Police in Sint-Niklaas removed a man from a train on Friday afternoon after he was found with a blank firing gun.
The East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office reported his subsequent arrest and hearing in front of an investigative judge on Saturday.
The suspect boarded a train in Lokeren, heading towards Antwerp shortly after 14:00. Another passenger noticed he was carrying a firearm and notified the authorities.
He was soon intercepted and removed from the train at the Sint-Niklaas station. While searching the suspect, police discovered he was carrying a blank firing gun.
The man was presented to an investigation judge the following Saturday and promptly arrested. His motives for holding the weapon remain uncertain.
