Antwerp police have intercepted a car on Saturday evening in response to several reports of an explosion.
“We received multiple reports of an explosion shortly after 8 pm,” a police spokesperson said. The incident reportedly occurred in Wilrijk, but no injuries were sustained.
Representatives of the federal judicial police lab were promptly on scene, and the SEDEE (Service for the Removal and Destruction of Explosive Devices) was notified.
Following the incident, a vehicle was swiftly stopped by police.
Investigations are ongoing to establish any connection between the driver of the car, its passengers and the explosion.
